The projects

The W4GEA project (Young Women for Grassroots Engagement Actions) aims at improving the social and labor market integration of young women with low-basic skills by improving youth workers’ capacity to engage them in grassroots projects for the sustainable development of local communities. Young women living in post-conflict countries or in countries facing profound social transformation become real changemakers in their communities and countries, by experiencing the setting up of a grassroots project and gaining skills to further develop it.
Thanks to the support received by the Erasmus+ programme, we have organized capacity-building activities in Colombia, India and Iraq, working with both Youth Workers and young local ladies on projects related to Entrepreneurship, Peace-building and Digital Cultural Heritage.

The Advancing Digital Empowerment of Libraries in Europe (ADELE) project aims at offering a free customisable web-based tool that helps libraries reflect on how they use and where they can further integrate digital technologies to improve their services. The ADELE project foresees the delivery of four international training events, addressed to librarians and library professionals, focused on social and digital innovation in public libraries.

Final International Youth Exchange

During the week of the Social Hackathon Umbria 2023, over 40 participants from the countries involved in the project, plus a very special delegation from Ukraine, will be working together in order to exchange stories and ideas on how to promote positive and inspirational messages among their own communities.
The stories will be finalised with the help of library experts and library professionals from the ADELE project.
The activities will be led by Avinash Pratap Singh, Program Lead at the HPI (Hasso-Plattner-Institut für Digital Engineering gGmbH) School of Design Thinking

Open air Human-Library

Friday 7 July – 17.00 / 20.00 – Historical Center of Nocera Umbra

The results of the activities carried out with the W4GEA participants during the first days of the week will be exploited with the organization of a human library disseminated in the historical center of Nocera Umbra.

At the “Human Library”, instead of books, people can “loan” a human. The ‘Books’ are persons who have experienced prejudice, social exclusion, or stigma, and they are ‘borrowed’ by ‘Readers,’ who are free to ask whatever question they want in order to better understand about the other person and to challenge their own prejudices.

The concept is basic and intuitive, and it is centered on the idea that conversations can provide a personal experience of sharing, questioning, and reflection that can significantly alter perceptions. The goal is to challenge stereotypes and discrimination through dialogue

No registration is needed… you just need to ask for a Human Library brochure at the #SHU Info-point after 14.00 on the same day of the event. In the brochure, you will find a map with the list of Human Books and instructions on how to find them in Nocera Umbra.

Event registration closed.
