Design a “Museater”
How to build a museater in two days
A museater is a new way of setting up customised visits to a museum, organised like theatre performances using ad-hoc augmented reality stages. First used in the United States in 2014, museater and the D.R.E.A.M. methodology – Digital Reality and Educational Activities in Museums – is spreading all over the world.
SHU2023 offers you the exceptional opportunity to collaborate for two days with its inventor, the Italian Paolo Russo, as he creates one in the Public Art Gallery of Nocera Umbra, housed in the wonderful former church of San Francesco.
You can participate in three ways:
- Co-designer
- Co-creator
- Visitor-pilot
Participation is free of charge and allows access to the other sites of the Nocera Umbra museum system: the Archaeological Museum and the Civic Tower!
Co-designer
Learn how to stage a museum performance, assisting Dr. Russo and his team in their work.
At the end of the two days you will understand what a museater is, how to design the path, script the narrative, create digital content suitable for use with immersive technologies, create the digital set design and lead a visit as a museum guide.
Particularly suitable for museum educators, school teachers of all levels, university and secondary school students interested in an integrated approach between digital technologies and the humanities.
